Aside from explaining my "undisciplined" action to my commanding officer and an Air Force legal officer, nothing more came of the incident. Two years later, out of the Air Force and living in Washington, DC, I mailed a letter with photographs directly to Mrs. Johnson and apologized for "the incident" with her husband. Mrs. Johnson replied with this warm thank you note, mentioning nothing of "the incident." I wonder why?
