Steeplechase Amusement Park
Coney Island
by Myron Ernst, 2005

And so at last I quit this world
in the Silver Rocket which then descended
into the Room of Very Funny Mirrors—
no matter how or where I stood
I was not me.

Then to the Great High Hall
where I went to heaven and fell
upon my very ass—cast down
to the Sea of Whirling Discs—but wait—
though flung to the gutter, I was to be sped,
almost to the waves themselves, upon a horserail.
